Frequently asked questions
Clear answers to help you understand our Building Surveys.
We’ve gathered some of the most common questions our clients ask, so you know exactly what to expect when working with Structura.
A Building Survey (RICS Level 3) is the most detailed inspection available. It provides an in-depth assessment of the property’s structure, condition, and defects, along with repair advice and estimated costs.
If you’re buying an older, larger, unusual, or altered property—or one with visible issues—a Building Survey is recommended. It goes further than a Level 2 Homebuyer Report by assessing structural integrity in greater depth.
The on-site inspection typically takes between 3–6 hours depending on the size and condition of the property. Reports are usually delivered within 3–5 working days.
Yes, Building Surveys provide advice on defects and can include estimated repair costs, helping you budget and negotiate with confidence.
Our reports are clear, photo-rich, and use a colour-coded traffic-light system to highlight issues by severity. They typically run to 60+ pages for full transparency.
We inspect all visible and accessible parts of the property. Where areas are hidden (such as under floors or behind walls), we highlight limitations and advise on further investigations if needed.
